Few of the racy-looking sports cars revving around today actually race.
Fewer still, win.
The TR7, its first time out, did both. Triumphantly.
March 28th, winning the D/Production SCCA National at Charlotte it set a new class lap record.
April 24th, winning the SCCA National at Lime Rock it finished with 15 seconds to spare.
And May 16th, it won the SCCA National at Bridgehampton and all but locked up the Northeast Division Championship with a win at Pocono on June 6th, and Nelson Ledges on June 13th. The competition in these victories included such seasoned veterans as Alfa, Lotus and Datsun.
Here's how its driver, 5-time SCCA Champion Bob Tullius sums it all up:
"Obviously, the aerodynamics of its shape are hard to beat. Makes drag almost non-existent. But its strongest asset is its handling. In fact, I find it superior to anything in its class I've driven on any track, anywhere”.
