    Description

Fits Atlas Craftsman 618 Lathe. The Original and Finest!  Double Ended!  See customer reviews at bottom.
Sharpie Points to the ABS Tool you are buying.  This item is one lock block tool invented and manufactured by me.  You are not buying an entire lathe or any part of a lathe.  This is one spindle lock block as indicated by the Sharpie.
My Craftsman / Atlas 618 in photos.  I am the inventor of this product because one of my lathes inexplicably developed a stuck chuck!  What to do?
Avoid breaking teeth on your back gears and bull gear by using my Atlas Spindle Lock tool.  Made from tough ABS, not cheezy PLA.  Will not mar your bull gear teeth.
Engages 10 teeth of the bull gear all at once.  Wedges tightly between head stock body and bull gear (large spindle gear behind chuck).  Developed to remove a chuck that got stuck for no apparent reason on my regularly used lathe.  I had my 18" Adjustable wrench on the jaw as well as 36" long pipe.   Took most of my strength to break it loose.  No damage to any components!
Step Zero:  Safety First! Unplug your lathe before working on it so you don't become a Zero.
    1. How to use,  Place tool centered on gear. (Lock block is wider than gear and overlaps teeth on both sides.)
    2.  Place adjustable wrench tightly on one jaw (or on hex stock clamped in chuck) and rotate to wedge block between gear and body.
    3.  From front of lathe, carefully seat adjustable wrench against chuck face and apply downward force to loosen.  It's OK to hold pressure on the wrench and strike a blow on the handle with a large plastic hammer.  Be careful not to allow your wrench to fall off and strike your ways at the moment the chuck breaks loose.
    4. To remove wedge bock, alternately tighten and loosen chuck back and forth.  The block will walk out in a few of these strokes.  Both chuck and tool will be free.
Tool is designed to allow you to apply maximum force without damage caused by shade-tree methods.  Reduces risk of damage of stuck chucks to the minimum extent possible.  However, as always use carefully and at your own risk.  Always unplug your lathe and wear safety glasses when using tools.
Spindle Lock Tool has been test fit to model shown.

Customer Review VS Copy Cat Product:
Hello, Really love the spindle lock .Have one from the competition also it fits too tight am going to try return it Just thought I would let you know how well it works as compared to the after thought part out there.  I am afraid the competitions lock may damage my bull gear as has little wear. Thanks and kudos to a great product.
    Kind Regards,
    Ron
Customer Testimonial:  (Bought version for larger Atlas lathe)
Hello! thank you for the intelligent device to lock the spindle of my Atlas 12" lathe. A much better choice than using the back gears. I wanted to tell you that I took a chance and bought your device and it worked on my 12" commercial cabinet drive model. I enclosed a photo of it installed and you may use it if you wish. Cheers! Tim C.
    Another Testimonial:
Thanks again Dave. I received the stop block. I picked up an old atlas with a chuck that has been on for 50 years. Your stop block did the trick! Looking forward to giving a good review. Thanks again, Andy.
