Missionary and explorer, David
Livingstone (1813-73) was born of
humble Scottish parents, and as a
Missionary first went to Bechuanaland
in Africa in 1841. Thereafter he made
many expeditions chiefly to enlarge the
-field of Missionary service throughout
the native tribes of Africa, in the
course of which he made valuable
geographical discoveries in the heart of
the hitherto unknown African con-
tinent, including the discovery of the
Victoria Falls. He died while trying
to establish the sources of the River
Nile.
